For some people, caring for animals is in their nature, so it is no wonder why some of us want the exteriors of our homes to be animal and wildlife-friendly. So, today we are going to share with you some of our top ideas for having the exterior of your home animal and wildlife-friendly.
It’s Simple – Leave Them Some Water
During the colder months, it can be extremely difficult for wildlife to find food and water for themselves. If you wish to help them out, you can do this by simply leaving a bowl of water and wildlife-friendly food out for them. This way they will be able to survive another day with the nutrients you have provided them with.
Create Them A Shelter
This option will require more work, but you can create a shelter within the exterior of your property. This doesn’t need to be anything fancy, it could just be a pile of leaves they can burrow themselves into. But by providing them with this shelter you are giving them a safe place to sleep and settle down. This will help them to survive the cold winter months.
Remove Harmful Items
You can also help wildlife in your garden by removing anything that may be harmful to them. For example, anything that may cause injuries like sharp items or stinging nettles. This way your exterior will become a safe haven for wildlife.
Add Some Entertainment Items
Whilst this is not necessary, it can be a nice touch for you to add some form of entertainment items for the wildlife. This can be anything from a ball to a mirror on the wall. This may offer them some form of entertainment, making their stay with you that little bit nicer.
Whilst you cannot guarantee that any wildlife will use your garden, it is nice for you to consider helping them out. If you do notice wildlife making homes in your garden, leave them there until the winter is over, unless you believe they could be hurt then call the RSPCA.
