Taking control of your bush starts with not letting it get out of control in the first place, as this can make the task a lot more difficult. If you carefully maintain the shape and keep the structure that you want, dealing with any new uncontrolled growth can be done in a few minutes, but if you leave it for a once a year task you’ll have to spend hours doing it.
While there can be some differences in how quickly your bush will grow, it is a good idea to trim it regularly; about once every 3-4 weeks. While cutting it it is important that you’re very careful about where you’re cutting, otherwise you could damage the bush.
You can use a variety of tools to help you with the trimming, like sheers, secateurs, and hedge trimmers.
